Globally, there are billions of cooling systems out there from refrigeration units to those in data centers which constantly reject heat into the atmosphere. And though we speak a lot about generating new clean energy, we rarely think about recovering some of that energy that has already been generated but then wasted.
So instead of building new energy infrastructures, we're making use of cooling systems which already exist, starting with commercial refrigerators. So we're turning everyday appliances into untapped sources of power while improving their efficiency.
I'm a first year robotics and AI student at UCL. I have been interested in energy recovery since I designed the first sketch for this idea when I was 15.
