Big Issue Invest (BII) is the social investment arm of the Big Issue Group, established in 2005 with a mission to dismantle poverty and inequality through social business solutions. As one of the UK's leading social impact investors, BII provides repayable finance to charities, social enterprises and social purpose businesses that are tackling the root causes of deprivation — from affordable housing and employment support to healthcare and community infrastructure.

BII offers a range of investment products tailored to the needs of social sector organisations at different stages of development: from impact loans of £20,000 to £400,000 for growing charities and social enterprises in England, through to secured debt investments of £500,000 to £4 million for established organisations through its Social Impact Debt Fund IV. The firm also manages blended finance structures, outcomes-based investment funds and a flexible loan programme for organisations in the North East of England. BII deploys capital strategically, prioritising organisations in the areas of highest deprivation — 58% of its active investees are based in high-deprivation communities.

Since 2005, BII has invested over £100 million into hundreds of organisations, helping improve the lives of nearly 2 million people across the UK in 2025 alone. Managing approximately £150 million in impact-oriented funds across multiple vehicles, BII also provides non-financial support to its investees through strategic guidance and sector expertise, reinforcing its commitment to long-term, systemic social change.
