Constructive Bio
Constructive Bio is a synthetic biology company developing engineered organisms and new classes of biomolecules for commercial applications across pharmaceuticals, materials and industrial biotechnology. Founded by Professor Jason Chin, a world-leading expert in genetic code reprogramming at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, the company builds on breakthrough research in expanding the genetic code.
Constructive Bio's platform enables the creation of organisms with entirely new biochemical capabilities — including proteins made from non-natural amino acids — opening up product categories that are impossible to create with conventional biology. This includes novel enzymes, biomaterials and therapeutics with properties that go beyond what nature can produce.
In September 2024, Constructive Bio raised £43 million from Ahren Innovation Capital, Fine Structure Ventures, +ND Capital, OMX Ventures and Paladin Capital Group.
