Kirontech
.avif)
Kirontech was founded in 2015 in Cambridge to address a problem that costs the global health insurance industry nearly half a trillion dollars every year: fraud, waste, and abuse in medical claims. Traditional approaches to detecting these inefficiencies relied on pre-specified rules that fraudsters could learn to evade, and manual review processes that were too slow and too expensive to scale. Kirontech was created to bring machine learning to the problem — building a system that discovers patterns in claims data rather than merely scanning for known ones.
The company's AI platform, KironAI, uses dynamic graph-based learning to analyse medical claims data, identifying anomalies and suspicious patterns that emerge from the data itself rather than from pre-programmed rules. This adaptive approach means the system continues to improve as new fraud patterns emerge. Kirontech works with health insurers, third-party administrators, and reinsurers, offering tools for fraud detection, waste management, abuse prevention, and provider network optimisation. The company is based in Cambridge with a presence in London, serving clients across the UK and international markets.
Kirontech has raised $3.25 million in total funding from investors including Plug and Play Insurtech, Leap Ventures, B&Y Venture Partners, and Start Ventures. Its most recent round of £1.8 million in 2025 will support continued development of its AI-powered claims management platform and expansion into new markets.
