LOAM Science

LOAM Science is a Los Angeles-based biotechnology company building prebiotic-fiber products designed to support microbiome diversity. Its first product, the Prebiotic Fiber Formula, launched in November 2025 with a waitlist of nearly 40,000 people.

The formula combines ten grams of six prebiotic fibers — sourced from upcycled plants — chosen to ferment at different rates and in different regions of the colon, on the premise that single-fiber supplements only feed one section of the gut. The product is tasteless, dissolves in water and is positioned as a daily fiber supplement aimed at the roughly 95% of adults who do not hit recommended fiber intake through diet alone.

LOAM was founded by Dr Karan Rajan, an NHS surgeon and one of the largest health and science creators on social media. The product took two years and hundreds of prototypes to formulate, with Rajan documenting the development process to his 10-million-strong audience across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
