Midnite

Midnite is a London-based sportsbook and casino operator that has built its entire technology platform in-house, rather than licensing software from established third-party suppliers. Founded in 2018 by Nick Wright and Daniel Qu — who previously built daily fantasy sports platform Dribble in partnership with Sky Bet — Midnite distinguishes itself as a product-first challenger brand in the UK’s highly competitive online gambling market.
The UK online gambling sector has long been dominated by large incumbent operators with significant marketing budgets and deeply entrenched customer bases. Challenger brands have historically struggled to close the gap, often relying on the same licensed technology stacks as their rivals, which limits their ability to differentiate on product quality or user experience. Midnite’s thesis is that genuine product differentiation — enabled by full ownership of its technology stack — is the most durable competitive advantage available to a challenger entering a mature market.
Midnite’s proprietary platform spans its core sportsbook, horse racing, and casino products. The company launched with a focus on esports betting before expanding into a broader sports and casino offering, and grew its headcount to 150 employees during a period of rapid product expansion in 2025. All engineering teams are kept onshore in the UK. The platform is designed to appeal to a new generation of players through social, rewards, and live operations features integrated into the core product experience.
Midnite raised £26 million in Series C funding in January 2026, led by Raine Partners IV — the flagship growth equity vehicle of The Raine Group, known for prior investments in DraftKings and Jackpocket. Existing investors Play Ventures, Discerning Capital, Makers Fund, and Big Bets also participated, lifting total equity raised to more than £55 million.
