Octopus Ventures

Octopus Ventures is a London-based venture capital firm investing in European technology companies from seed through to growth stage. Founded in 2007 as part of Octopus Group, the firm deploys roughly £200 million a year across seven sector-focused teams covering B2B software, bio, climate, consumer, deep tech, fintech and health.

The firm's structure pairs sector experts — including former clinicians, deep tech PhDs and consumer operators — with a London-based team of more than 70 investors and platform staff. Octopus is part of the broader Octopus Group, which manages around £10 billion across venture, energy, real estate and retail-facing investment products, giving the venture arm access to permanent capital and tax-advantaged retail vehicles such as VCTs and EIS.

Notable portfolio companies include Cazoo, Depop, Elvie, ManyPets and WaveOptics. The firm is headquartered in London with a network of partners across the US and Asia and has dedicated US-expansion support for European founders.
