Inephany Raises £1.8M to Build Better Tools for Training AI Agents
Author:

Inephany, a UK artificial intelligence company, has raised £1.8 million from Amadeus Capital Partners, Sure Valley Ventures, and business angels to develop tools for training and improving AI agents. The company is building specialised infrastructure for the machine learning workflows involved in developing autonomous AI systems — specifically targeting the technical challenges of fine-tuning large language models, optimising agent behaviour, and improving the efficiency of the training processes that determine how capable and reliable an AI agent becomes at performing complex tasks.

The AI agent space has moved rapidly from research curiosity to commercial deployment. Large language models capable of multi-step reasoning, tool use, and autonomous task completion are now being embedded in enterprise workflows, developer tools, and consumer applications at scale. But the process of taking a general-purpose foundation model and adapting it to perform reliably in a specific agent context — whether that is managing customer support, writing and executing code, navigating a multi-step research task, or operating within a constrained business process — requires sophisticated training and evaluation infrastructure that the AI development community is still actively building.

Inephany addresses specific bottlenecks in this process. Training AI agents effectively requires generating high-quality training data that captures the range of situations the agent will encounter, defining the reward signals or preference data that guide the model's behaviour in the right direction, and evaluating performance across a meaningful set of test cases that genuinely probe the agent's capabilities and failure modes. Each of these steps involves significant engineering work that current tooling handles poorly or not at all. Inephany's platform provides purpose-built tooling for these workflows, reducing the expertise and time required to develop capable, well-calibrated AI agents.

Amadeus Capital Partners, one of the UK's most established deep technology investors, brings significant experience backing AI and enterprise software companies. Sure Valley Ventures focuses on early-stage software companies across the UK and Ireland. The funding will be used to develop the platform, build commercial relationships with AI development teams, and grow the team.
