Ambar Sur is an Indian-born technology entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of TerraPay, a global money movement company. He began his career as an RF engineer in Washington DC before moving to India to work with BPL Mobile. He later founded CellCloud Technologies, a mobile prepaid solutions company that merged with Mahindra Comviva in 2002, where he served as Wholetime Director and Senior Vice President for over a decade, building expertise in mobile payments and financial inclusion across emerging markets. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master's in Electrical Engineering from New York University.

In 2015, Ambar founded TerraPay alongside co-founders Ani Sane, Ram Sundaram, and Akbar Hussain — with the vision of making cross-border payments as seamless and instant as sending an SMS. TerraPay operates as a licensed digital payment infrastructure provider connecting banks, mobile wallets, and money transfer operators across more than 145 countries.

Under Ambar's leadership, TerraPay raised over $100 million in Series B funding, achieved regulatory approvals in 31 markets, and built a network spanning 7.5 billion bank accounts and over 2 billion mobile wallets. In 2024, he co-founded the Wallet Interoperability Council to drive global standards for cross-border wallet payments.
