Born in Bombay and raised in Singapore, Anand Sambasivan began his career in investment banking, starting out in New York. He later set up a hedge fund and ran it for eight years, a role that gave him close sight of how IPOs and follow-on share sales were allocated, and who was left out of them.

That experience led him to co-found PrimaryBid in 2012. The London fintech gives everyday investors a way to take part in public company fundraisings alongside institutions, and has worked with the London Stock Exchange and Euronext to do so. Its deals have included IPOs such as Deliveroo and PensionBee.

In 2026 he moved into insurance as co-founder and chief executive of i23, which is building AI tools to take administrative work off commercial insurance brokers. He founded the company with former Treasury minister Bim Afolami, and it has raised a £4.9M seed round.
