Asim Ahmad

Asim Ahmad is a British-Pakistani entrepreneur, investor, and CFA Charterholder with a background spanning institutional finance and blockchain venture capital. He studied Mathematics at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2010, before building a career in investment consulting and institutional asset management. He worked at BlackRock in its Institutional Client Business, advising global and UK-based investment consultants on alternative products, hedge fund selection, and investment strategy in a solution-oriented role.

Asim first invested in crypto assets in 2016, developing an in-depth knowledge of the blockchain ecosystem at a time when institutional participation in the space was minimal. Drawing on his investment expertise, he co-founded Eterna Capital, a blockchain-focused venture capital firm that became one of the earlier dedicated Web3 investment vehicles in the UK. In this role he invested across more than 70 blockchain ecosystems and developed an extensive network across the global Web3 community.

In 2022, Asim co-founded KRNL Labs with technologist Tahir Mahmood to build open infrastructure addressing the cross-chain fragmentation problem in Web3. As commercial co-founder, Asim brings strategic direction, investor relationships, and the market access developed through Eterna Capital to the business. KRNL Labs raised a pre-seed round from Blockchain Founders Fund, Builder Capital, Ryze Labs, and WAGMI Ventures, with the protocol subsequently integrating with Euler Finance and partnering with Sig Network on cross-chain transaction infrastructure.

Asim is based in London and remains active across the Web3 investment community in addition to his role at KRNL Labs. He has spoken at industry events including Southeast Asia Blockchain Week and continues to invest through Eterna Capital's portfolio while building out KRNL's developer ecosystem and commercial partnerships.
