Desigan Chinniah, known to most of the tech community as Dees or cyberdees, is a London-based technologist, angel investor and advisor with around two decades of work shaping the open web, privacy and developer ecosystems. He runs a portfolio career split across angel cheques, venture-partner roles and 501(c)(3) board seats, with a particular focus on backing underrepresented and minority founders across Europe, the US and Africa.

He has made more than 50 angel investments — including Replay, Axiom, Bloom Money, Curacel, Earnipay, Klarytee, Odin and Yuty — and serves as Venture Partner at Mozilla Ventures and Madica, the pan-African pre-seed fund. He has chaired the board of Ushahidi and sat on the board of The Tor Project.

Earlier in his career Dees spent eight years at Mozilla — joining around the launch of Firefox 3.8 — in roles spanning developer relations, mobile partnerships and open innovation, ultimately as Senior Director. Before Mozilla he held design and engineering roles at eBay, PayPal, Skype, BBC Worldwide Labs and Ask.com, going back to the early 2000s. He mentors regularly through Seedcamp and other early-stage programmes.
