Dhruv Shah is a London-based industrial designer with a Master of Arts from the University of the Arts London, where he first met his future co-founder Preethi Jayakumar. His professional background spans sustainable product design and spatial innovation, with experience at design studios focused on industrial and environmental applications. A personal encounter with poor heating conditions — his aunt's health was repeatedly affected by inadequate warmth and indoor air quality — became the human motivation behind his most consequential work.

Shah co-founded Anzen in 2022 alongside Jayakumar, serving as CEO. The company is developing the world's first plug-and-play solid-state heat pump — the Anzen Climate Wall — designed specifically for the 12.5 million UK homes that are unsuitable for conventional heat pumps due to cost, space, or installation constraints. Using thermoelectric Peltier technology, the system delivers heating, cooling and ventilation in a single wall-integrated unit that installs in under a day, with no refrigerants or outdoor unit required.

Anzen has been supported by tier-one climate investors including Carbon13, Sustainable Ventures, Desai Ventures and One Planet Capital. After prototyping at Park Royal Open Workshop and completing pilots with housing providers and utilities, the company raised £1.1 million in pre-seed funding in 2025 from Green Angel Ventures and others. Shah and his team are targeting commercial rollout in 2026 with a long-term mission to decarbonise one million homes by 2035.
