Dr. Edwin Wong

Dr. Edwin Wong is a British-Chinese psychiatry researcher and entrepreneur whose academic work at King's College London and the National University of Singapore focused on the genetics of mental health — including large-scale studies on cognition, dementia, and affective disorders. Before co-founding Psyrin, he was active in deep-tech innovation through Entrepreneur First and Nucleate UK.
In 2024, Edwin co-founded Psyrin as CEO alongside Dr. Julianna Olah and Dr. Raheem Chaudhry, building on a recognition that psychiatry's traditional assessment model — reliant on subjective clinician interviews and outdated diagnostic manuals — was both unsustainable and inequitable. Psyrin's flagship product, Simon AI, uses voice biomarkers to screen for neurodivergent traits including ADHD and autism, analysing over 200 distinct vocal characteristics to provide individuals with data-driven insights in minutes rather than months. Edwin leads the company's overall strategy and partnerships, working to scale access to objective mental health assessment.
Psyrin raised $1 million in pre-seed funding in 2024, led by 2048 Ventures with participation from Concept Ventures and Space Cadet Ventures. Investors have cited the founding team's rare combination of clinical expertise, AI research, and personal motivation as a key differentiator in a market where the average wait for a neurodivergent assessment can stretch to 500 weeks in the UK.
