Gaurav Chawla

Gaurav Chawla is a fintech and deep tech entrepreneur and investor with a background in banking and trading. Prior to co-founding Renew Risk he held senior roles at IHS Markit Energy and worked across financial services, building expertise in the intersection of capital markets and data-driven products. He has founded and invested in multiple ventures in the fintech and deep tech sectors.

In 2021 Gaurav co-founded Renew Risk alongside Ashima Gupta, Joshua Macabuag, and Professor Subhamoy Bhattacharya. Serving as Executive Chair, he has brought commercial and capital markets experience to the founding team, helping position Renew Risk as a credible counterparty for global insurers, reinsurers, and institutional investors navigating the rapidly growing offshore wind sector.

Renew Risk raised a £5 million Series A in early 2025 led by Molten Ventures, building on seed funding from Insurtech Gateway and One Planet Capital. The company's risk models are integrated into Nasdaq's platform, serve clients at Lloyd's of London including McGill & Partners and HCC Tokio Marine, and cover offshore wind markets across Europe, the US, Japan, and beyond.
