Nishant Ravikumar is a machine learning researcher working where AI meets medical imaging. He studied at Case Western Reserve University and the University of Sheffield.
He built his academic career at the University of Leeds, first as a research fellow at the Centre for Computational Imaging and Simulation Technologies in Biomedicine (CISTIB) and, from 2021, as a lecturer in the School of Computing. His research spans medical image analysis, statistical shape modelling and deep learning for diagnosis and treatment planning, including widely cited work on image registration and on predicting heart attack risk from retinal scans.
In 2024 he co-founded adsilico with Sheena Macpherson and Zeike Taylor, taking the role of Head of Virtual Populations. The company's Virtual Chimera technology generates realistic virtual hearts and blood vessels from anonymised scans, so device makers can test implants across a population that reflects real variation in age, sex, ethnicity and anatomy. adsilico raised a £3.5M seed round in 2024 and a £10M Series A led by PXN Ventures in October 2026.
