Renee Kalia is a British entrepreneur of South Asian heritage and co-founder of iEthico, the Coventry-based healthtech company building an AI-powered pharmaceutical sourcing and drug shortage prediction platform. Her career has been rooted in the pharmaceutical industry, where she spent over a decade working in supply chain and commercial roles before turning her experience into a startup mission to fix one of healthcare's most persistent operational failures.

Renee worked at Clinigen, a specialist pharmaceutical supply chain company, where she developed deep expertise in medicines procurement, distribution, and the mechanics of supply chain disruption. It was through this experience — watching pharmacists and hospital teams spend hours hunting for medicines that were technically in supply but practically inaccessible — that she identified the opportunity for a technology solution. She co-founded iEthico with her Clinigen colleague Debra Ainge in 2020.

As Co-founder of iEthico, Renee has been central to the development of a platform that connects pharmacists directly with a network of licensed wholesalers and distributors, enabling rapid sourcing of hard-to-find medicines through a single regulated digital marketplace. The platform incorporates AI-powered shortage prediction that analyses supply chain data to identify medicines at risk of shortage before they become critical, shifting the industry from reactive scrambling to proactive management.

iEthico has raised over £1.2 million in combined equity and non-dilutive funding, including Innovate UK grants and investment from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund. It has achieved MHRA-approved regulatory compliance, been recognised as a KPMG UK Tech Innovator finalist, and reached the final of The Spectator Economic Innovator of the Year award. The company is deploying its platform to NHS Trusts and community pharmacies across the UK.
