Dr Suneal Ghataora is a semiconductor researcher and deep-tech founder of South Asian heritage, based in Sheffield. He holds a doctorate in semiconductor photonics and built his early career in academic research at the University of Sheffield's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

It was in Dr Rick Smith's lab at Sheffield that Ghataora's work on novel semiconductor photonics laid the groundwork for a new way of manufacturing MicroLED displays. He went on to co-found Pixel-Flo alongside Smith and display-industry veteran Simon Jones to commercialise that research, turning a laboratory technique into a process built for industrial scale.

Ghataora's photonics work sits at the heart of Pixel-Flo's Continuous-Flow Mass Transfer technology, which uses fluidic self-assembly to place microscopic LEDs onto display panels at high throughput. In July 2026 the company raised £5.25 million in seed funding, led by Northern Gritstone, to move the technology from the lab toward industrial production.
