Zehan Wang

Dr. Zehan Wang is a British-Chinese AI researcher, entrepreneur, and angel investor whose career has positioned him at the forefront of computer vision and embodied AI. He previously co-founded Magic Pony Technology, a London-based machine learning startup specialising in computer vision that was acquired by Twitter in 2016 in one of the UK's most notable AI exits of that era. He also spent time at Twitter in a research capacity, deepening his expertise in large-scale AI systems before returning to the startup world.
In 2024, Wang co-founded Paddington Robotics alongside Johannes Totz and Yuntian Fang, with a mission to solve the real-world data problem that limits embodied AI in everyday human spaces. As CEO, he leads a London-based team building AI and robotics systems designed from the ground up to operate in complex, unstructured environments — starting with supermarkets as their primary deployment context.
Paddington Robotics raised £1.9 million in 2025 backed by 7percent Ventures and Octopus Ventures, and Wang has become a recognised voice on the future of robotics and AI infrastructure. He is also an active angel investor across the AI and aerospace sectors, supporting early-stage companies building at the frontier of deep technology.
