Bethnal Green Ventures is a London-based venture capital firm focused exclusively on tech-for-good — early-stage companies using technology to address social and environmental problems at scale. Founded in 2008 and led by Managing Partners Paul Miller OBE and Melanie Hayes, BGV was the first UK VC firm to certify as a B Corp and operates through BGV Investment Management Ltd, an appointed representative regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

The firm runs a flagship Tech for Good accelerator programme that invests £60,000 for 7% equity and supports founders through six weeks of intensive learning. The most promising portfolio companies receive follow-on investment of up to £1 million from pre-seed through to Series A and B. The team also provides mentorship, an expert and founder network, and dedicated support across product, impact strategy and fundraising readiness.

BGV manages around £50 million in assets and has backed more than 200 ventures, including Fairphone, LettUs Grow, DrDoctor and Piclo. Its £33 million 2023 fund — backed by the British Business Bank's Enterprise Capital Funds programme, M&G Catalyst and Big Society Capital — targets at least 50% female-founded investments and aims to support 100 new ventures over four years. As of late 2024, BGV had 75 active portfolio companies and made 25 new programme and follow-on investments in 2024 alone.
