Carv — operating under the legal name Motion Metrics Limited — is a London-based sports technology company that has built the world's first digital ski coach. The product uses small sensors that clip onto any ski boot and connect to a smartphone app, capturing 72 motion and pressure metrics at 20 times per second via an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and pressure sensors. This data feeds a real-time audio coaching system that provides feedback and drills to help skiers improve their technique on the mountain, and generates a personalised Ski:IQ score after every run.

What sets Carv apart is its ability to quantify aspects of skiing technique that were previously impossible to measure objectively, and to make professional-grade coaching insights accessible to any skier at any level. The platform has been developed in partnership with elite athletes including five-time World Champion ski racer Ted Ligety, and has been adopted by Olympic ski teams from the US, Italy, and Slovenia as well as recreational skiers worldwide. Carv's database of over 400 million recorded turns is the largest skiing dataset in the world.

Founded in 2013 by Jamie Grant and Pruthvikar Reddy, Carv broke the sports wearable record on Kickstarter in 2016, was awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2021, and has grown to serve over 35,000 members across 58 countries. The company has raised over $20 million in total funding across nine rounds, completing a Series A in April 2024, and was named Equipment/Wearable of the Year at the Ski and Snowboard Trade Awards.
