Fable Data

Fable Data is a London-based data intelligence company and Europe's leading provider of real-time, anonymised consumer transaction data. Founded in 2018 by Luke Kennedy and Suraj Gohil — whose experiences in government policy and fund management left them frustrated by the incomplete, survey-based and chronically delayed spending data available to decision-makers — Fable set out to create a fundamentally better way of understanding how consumers actually spend their money.

Fable sources data directly from exclusive relationships with major European banks and credit card issuers, creating a panel of millions of anonymised consumer and SME transactions updated daily. Its two core products are a granular, individual-level dataset for data-driven investors, and an aggregated transaction dataset offering macroeconomic insights across merchants and sectors. All data is anonymised and GDPR-compliant, processed through Fable's proprietary masking and redaction tool (MRT). Clients include global discretionary and systematic hedge funds, major corporations, central banks, and government bodies across Europe.

Fable Data has raised funding from Octopus Ventures and Guinness Global Investors, won the Statistical Excellence Award in 2023 and been accepted into the Tech Nation Upscale programme. The company supplies its data to HM Treasury, the Bundesbank and the IMF on a pro bono basis, and holds six years of historical data enabling trend analysis against a rich economic baseline. Its proprietary machine learning algorithms ensure the data it receives is fully anonymised and ready for analysis.
