Suraj Gohil

Suraj Gohil read Mathematics and Computer Science at Oriel College, Oxford, before building an extensive career in finance with a particular focus on corporate and government debt markets. He began as a structured credit trader at KBC Financial Products, before becoming a portfolio manager at Observatory Capital and then CQS, where he established the firm's non-Asian emerging markets credit business.
Drawing on his experience seeing major investment and policy decisions made on incomplete and delayed consumer spending data, Suraj co-founded Fable Data in 2018 alongside Luke Kennedy. As Chief Commercial Officer, he leads the team responsible for building partnerships with banks and credit card issuers — Fable's primary data suppliers — and for cultivating the company's growing base of investor and corporate clients across Europe.
Fable Data has grown into a leading provider of anonymous, real-time European consumer transaction data, supplying insights to global hedge funds, central banks, government bodies and academic institutions including HM Treasury, the Bundesbank and the IMF. The company won the Statistical Excellence Award in 2023 and has raised funding from Octopus Ventures and Guinness Global Investors.
