Gaussion
.avif)
Gaussion is a London-based deep tech company and UCL spinout that has developed a patented magneto-electrochemical platform to solve one of the most critical barriers to EV adoption: slow battery charging. The company's MagLiB™ technology applies an external magnetic field during charge and discharge cycles to steer lithium ions more efficiently within existing battery cells, enabling ultra-fast charging without the degradation typically associated with rapid charging.
The technology is battery-chemistry agnostic — compatible with NMC, LFP, and all future cell chemistries — and works across all form factors, from consumer electronics and power tools to EV modules and grid-scale storage. Unlike competing approaches that require new materials or cell chemistry redesigns, Gaussion's solution enhances performance of batteries that already exist, making it both scalable and commercially viable in the near term.
Gaussion raised a £2.85 million seed round in 2023 led by BGF and UCL Technology Fund, followed by a $12 million Series A in 2024 led by Autotech Ventures. The company's global IP portfolio spans 40+ patent filings across 11 patent families, and it is actively scaling pilot programmes with leading automotive and energy storage partners.
