Healthtech-1 is a London-based health technology company founded in 2021, on a mission to automate administrative tasks in NHS primary care so that staff can focus on patient care rather than paperwork. Co-founded by Raj and Pete — a team with backgrounds in NHS clinical entrepreneurship and software engineering — the company started by tackling one of the most persistent pain points in GP practices: manual patient registration.

In 2022, 60% of GP practices still collected patient registration data on paper, and 100% manually typed this data into clinical systems. Each registration took around 15 minutes of staff time, cost practices 6,000 days of admin per month collectively, and resulted in an estimated £11 million per month in NHS list inflation due to errors. Healthtech-1's Automated Registrations product replaces this process entirely: patients register online, and the platform automatically populates the clinical system with full SNOMED coding the same day, 24/7. The result is a 500% increase in coded data accuracy, same-day registration, and an average patient satisfaction score of 9.8/10.

Now used by over 1,400 GP practices across England — including 25% of all practices — Healthtech-1 has saved over 175 years of NHS staff time. The company was named Digital Solutions Provider of the Year at the GP Practice Awards in 2024 and was selected as a national supplier for NHS England's Register with a GP service. Its second product, Automated Lab Reports, is now in rollout. The company has raised £2.7 million in seed funding from Y Combinator, Moonfire, DigitalHealth.London, Innovate UK and Cornerstone VC.
