Medwise.ai is a Leeds-based health technology company building AI-powered clinical knowledge infrastructure for healthcare professionals. The problem it addresses is fundamental to clinical practice: doctors and nurses routinely need to look up evidence-based guidance during consultations, but the tools available — general search engines, PDFs, fragmented intranet pages — are slow, unreliable, and not designed for clinical decision-making. Studies show that 70% of doctors use Google to find clinical information at the point of care, and the time cost is significant: Medwise.ai’s own evaluations show clinicians losing 2-3 minutes per query in a typical 10-minute GP appointment.
The Medwise.ai platform uses natural language processing and large language models to enable clinicians to ask plain-language questions and receive fast, evidence-based, source-attributed answers drawn from national guidelines, local pathways and trusted clinical databases. Healthcare organisations can customise the platform to their specific guidelines and integrate local policies, creating a single authoritative source of truth for their clinical teams. The platform is deployable in any clinical environment and requires no change to existing workflows.
Medwise.ai has secured over £1 million in seed funding led by Finance Yorkshire, with participation from StartUp Health, CalmStorm VC, Deeptech Labs and SFC Capital. The company has won multiple Innovate UK grants exceeding £1 million and an Innovate UK Launchpad award of £418,680 for LLM integration into GP workflows. An independent health economic evaluation estimated up to £30 million in potential NHS productivity savings. The company has been accepted into Mount Sinai’s Elementa Labs programme and is expanding into the UAE and US markets.
