Nila

Nila is a London-based cross-border eldercare platform that helps diaspora families — primarily Non-Resident Indians in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia — manage the healthcare and wellbeing of elderly parents and relatives in India. Founded in 2024 by Anthony Jacob through Founders Factory’s Aviva fintech venture studio, Nila was built from personal experience: Jacob spent the COVID-19 pandemic trying to coordinate care for his own parents in Sri Lanka from abroad, navigating fragmented healthcare, unreliable local contacts, and the friction of cross-border payments under time pressure.
The problem Nila addresses is structural and large. Immigrants responsible for ageing parents typically spend more than eight hours per week coordinating care and over $5,000 annually on travel and administration costs. In emergencies, unplanned medical bills can exceed $1,500, often with little transparency or advance warning. The existing solutions — WhatsApp messages, intermittent phone calls, and infrequent check-in trips — are reactive, fragile, and deeply stressful.
Nila replaces this improvised system with a structured, technology-enabled care coordination service. Each family is assigned a dedicated Family Care Manager — rigorously vetted, trained in geriatric care and safeguarding, and available 24/7 — who manages home visits, medication tracking, medical appointments, emergency response, and cross-border payments for medical expenses. A proprietary technology platform manages scheduling, documentation, quality oversight, and communication, giving families abroad real-time visibility into their relative’s day-to-day care. The platform operates in over 10 Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata, and has a partnership with Aviva.
Nila raised $2.4 million in a pre-seed round led by LocalGlobe in October 2025, with participation from Redbus Ventures and angels from Revolut, Wise, and Nala. The company has maintained zero customer churn among its early users, who pay approximately $100 per month for 24/7 care coordination. It is expanding across India over the next 12 to 18 months and targeting entry into additional Asian markets including the Philippines.
