Record OS is a London-based platform for UK self-assessment tax filing and Making Tax Digital compliance, built for individuals, sole traders, freelancers and professionals with complex finances. The company targets a market long defined by high cost, low transparency and persistent errors — a combination the founders experienced directly, including while working in finance themselves.

The platform pairs software automation with mandatory human review: every filing is checked by a qualified tax professional before submission, combining the convenience and pricing of a digital product with the assurance traditionally associated with an accountant. Pricing runs from £125 for standard self-assessment returns up to £500 for specialist cases involving trusts, offshore income or complex investments. The launch follows the UK government’s Making Tax Digital rollout, which since April 2026 has required self-employed workers and landlords earning over £50,000 to submit quarterly digital updates to HMRC.

Record OS was founded in 2026 by former Wise employees Dhruv Chadha and José Luis De La Peña. The company initially built tooling for accounting firms before pivoting to a direct-to-consumer model. It has a six-person team in central London and raised $2M in pre-seed funding in June 2026 led by Episode 1, with angel participation from former executives at Wise, Revolut, Deliveroo and Alphabet.
