RedCat Pub Company
.avif)
RedCat Pub Company is a UK-based managed pub operator founded in 2021 by Rooney Anand, the former CEO of Greene King. Backed from inception by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, RedCat was created to capitalise on a structural opportunity: during and after the pandemic, a significant number of quality pub assets were coming to market at depressed valuations, operated by landlords and pub groups unable to sustain them. Anand, who had spent 14 years transforming Greene King into the UK's largest managed pub company, saw a chance to build something new — a focused, community-centred operator with the discipline of an experienced team and the freshness of a blank sheet.
RedCat operates managed pubs and pub hotels across the UK, running sites directly rather than through tenancy agreements. Its estate spans traditional community locals, destination pubs in market towns, and coaching inns, with a strong focus on food, overnight accommodation, and local identity. The Coaching Inn Group, which RedCat acquired in 2022, operates a portfolio of historic coaching inns in English market towns and forms a distinctive strand of the business now known under the RedCat Hospitality umbrella alongside RedCat Independent Pubs.
Since its founding, RedCat has acquired more than 100 pubs and pub hotels and grown to over 1,400 overnight bedrooms across its estate. In 2024 the company raised £52 million from Oaktree Capital Management to fund continued expansion. Rooney Anand serves as Executive Chairman, with an experienced management team driving day-to-day operations.
