- Sainaptic, styled sAInaptic, helps exam boards and training providers mark vocational and professional qualifications. These rarely rely on multiple choice. Learners submit short answers, essays, reports, portfolios and recorded professional discussions, and a trained assessor can spend up to 90 minutes on a single one. That slows feedback and certification and keeps assessment expensive. Its models are trained on domain-specific data and on each client’s own marking judgements rather than on a general-purpose language model. They mark submissions against the relevant standard and draft written feedback, while qualified assessors keep control of final grades. The company sells to awarding organisations, training providers and the software platforms that serve them. Sainaptic says its system has cut marking for some qualifications from 45 minutes to eight seconds. It reports deviation from expert assessors of under 1 per cent and potential savings of up to £150,000 a year per organisation. It went through Tech Nation’s Applied AI programme in 2022 and counted Brighteye Ventures as an early backer. In October 2026 it raised £1M in a seed round co-led by Cornerstone VC and Ufi Ventures, alongside a partnership with Skilltech Solutions.
