Theia Insights

Theia Insights is a Cambridge-based deep-tech company building a dynamic classification system for global financial markets. Where conventional taxonomies assign each listed company a single industry label that rarely updates, Theia treats classification as a living view of the economy, with each business given weighted exposure across multiple sectors that shifts as its activities evolve.

The platform reads regulatory filings, earnings transcripts, press releases and financial data, and combines proprietary AI, natural language processing, quantitative modelling and a knowledge graph to translate those signals into a continuously updated map of what companies actually do. Its products include Dynamic Industry Classification, Concept2Universe, Thematic Factor Models and Theme Watch Indices, used by index providers, asset managers, hedge funds and banks to support research, portfolio construction, analytics and trading workflows.

The company was founded in Cambridge in 2022 by Ye Tian, a former Amazon Alexa research scientist, and has assembled a team of PhD scientists, engineers and industry practitioners from Nasdaq, Morgan Stanley, Meta, Amazon, AWS and the University of Cambridge. Theia has raised £11M to date, including a £6M Series A in March 2026 led by MiddleGame Ventures, with participation from Further Ventures and Unusual Ventures. Existing customers include a leading global index provider, a major bank and several multi-billion-dollar hedge funds.
