Ye Tian

Ye Tian is the founder and CEO of Theia Insights, a Cambridge-based company building an AI-driven dynamic classification system used by global index providers, asset managers, hedge funds and banks. Of Chinese heritage, she completed a PhD in computational linguistics at UCL before moving into industry research.

Before founding Theia, Tian was a research scientist at Amazon Alexa, where she worked on large-scale language and AI systems. She started Theia Insights in Cambridge in 2022 as a solo founder, on the conviction that financial markets cannot allocate capital efficiently while they rely on static, single-label industry taxonomies that have barely changed in decades.

Under her leadership, Theia has assembled a team drawn from Nasdaq, Morgan Stanley, Meta, Amazon, AWS and the University of Cambridge, raised £11M in total funding across a seed round and a £6M Series A led by MiddleGame Ventures, and built products including Dynamic Industry Classification, Concept2Universe and Thematic Factor Models that are now in use at a leading global index provider, a major bank and several multi-billion-dollar hedge funds.
