Amanda Cai is a Shanghai-born entrepreneur and technologist who grew up with an ambition to build businesses. She moved to the UK to study economics at University College London, where she graduated with a first-class honours degree, before embarking on a decade-long career in investment banking, where she developed deep expertise in corporate finance, risk management, derivative pricing, and capital markets.

In 2016, Amanda channelled that experience into her first venture, iContract, an online platform connecting professional contractors with recruiters and employers for job matching and networking. Growing the platform to over 20,000 users, she gained direct insight into the fragmented and inadequate insurance landscape facing the flexible workforce — a problem she found was almost universal across the contractor economy.

That experience was the foundation for Jove, which Amanda founded in 2021 with early backing from Fuel Ventures and the heads of Octopus Group. As CEO, she has built Jove into a pioneering insurtech company delivering borderless, AI-powered business insurance for contractors and SMEs across the UK, Europe, and the US. Her platform integrates directly into HR and talent systems, automating insurance compliance and providing flexible, subscription-based coverage tailored to the realities of modern project-based work.

Under Amanda's leadership, Jove partnered with global insurer Chubb to launch the UK's first digital insurance programme for tech contractors, and established partnerships with major international recruitment firms including Hays, Magnit, and Remote. In December 2024, she closed a £3.6 million seed round led by Explorer Investments. Amanda is a recognised figure in the UK insurtech ecosystem and has been featured in Asians in Tech for her work at the intersection of technology and the future of work.
