Amrish Sehgal

Amrish Sehgal is a British-Indian fintech entrepreneur and co-founder of Traydstream, the London-founded AI company that automates the reading, checking, and compliance verification of complex trade finance documents. His career was built in the trade finance divisions of global banks, where he developed deep institutional knowledge of the documentary workflows that govern letters of credit, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other instruments that underpin international trade.
Sehgal co-founded Traydstream in 2015 alongside Achille D’Antoni, Uzair Bawany, and Gary Bhattacharjee — all veterans of trade finance processing at major financial institutions. The founding insight was clear to anyone who had spent years inside these workflows: the process of manually checking trade documents against thousands of global and regional rules was both enormously time-consuming and highly dependent on an ageing generation of specialist professionals whose institutional knowledge was non-transferable. Automating this process was not just commercially valuable but structurally urgent.
Traydstream’s platform uses OCR, natural language processing, and ML models trained on the specific language and regulatory frameworks of trade finance to digitise documents, apply rule-based compliance checks, flag discrepancies, and route exceptions for human review. The company has raised approximately $66 million in total since its founding and counts major global banks across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East among its clients.
In August 2025, Traydstream raised €9.3 million in a round led by Pivot Investment Partners and e&, the Emirates Telecommunications Group, to accelerate expansion into Gulf and African markets and continue developing its large language model-based document intelligence. Sehgal’s years of on-the-ground experience in documentary trade remain central to the product’s depth and regulatory precision.
