Asad Khan is a British-Pakistani entrepreneur and the founder of Snowflake Luxury Gelato, one of the UK’s most decorated independent premium food brands. Born and raised in the UK, Khan built Snowflake from an idea into a multi-location London retail brand and a nationally recognised wholesale product over more than a decade of hands-on entrepreneurship in the food and hospitality sector.

Khan’s founding vision for Snowflake, which he launched in 2012 alongside Italian gelato chef Paolo Rivieccio, was rooted in a simple but demanding premise: that Britain’s increasingly sophisticated food culture deserved a gelato brand made to the same standard as the best in Italy, but built from ingredients with the provenance and quality that British consumers expected from premium food products. The result was a brand that applied traditional Italian slow-churning methods — lower fat, higher milk density, more intense natural flavour concentration — to British ingredients: organic Jersey milk from Ivy House Farm in Somerset, hand-picked seasonal British fruit, and Italian-grown nuts.

Over more than a decade, Snowflake has accumulated over 30 Great Taste Gold Stars from the Guild of Fine Food, the UK’s most respected blind-tasted food awards, and was named Supreme Champion in 2014 for its Raspberry Sorbetto — the UK’s number one food product that year. The brand grew to operate premium retail boutiques across London’s most sought-after locations, including Bayswater, Soho, South Kensington, Marble Arch, Westfield, and the O2, as well as a wholesale operation supplying restaurants, hotels, and café chains. International expansion followed, with sites in Saudi Arabia and a travel retail partnership with SSP at Jeddah Airport.

Khan has also built a franchise model that allows qualified UK and international partners to operate Snowflake locations, and the company raised £1.3 million in 2024 to fund further production capacity, new retail openings, and distribution growth. His achievement in building a premium British food brand of genuine international calibre from an independent start reflects the combination of culinary ambition, commercial discipline, and perseverance that marks out the best founders in the food and hospitality space.
