Bora Tokyay

Bora Tokyay is a Turkish entrepreneur and cleantech founder whose background spans energy consulting, data analytics, and startup building. He grew up in Turkey with an engineering mindset shaped by the country's rapidly evolving energy landscape, and pursued a career path that would lead him to the intersection of renewable energy and artificial intelligence.
Before founding Kavaken, Bora worked at Accenture as a consultant focusing on different parts of the energy value chain, advising utilities and operators on data-driven strategy and operational improvement. He developed deep expertise in how renewable energy assets are managed, financed, and monitored — and increasingly saw that the industry's reliance on manual processes and fragmented data was leaving significant value on the table. This insight drove him to found Kavaken in 2022 alongside Murat Yilmaz.
As Co-founder and CEO of Kavaken, Bora leads the company's commercial strategy and growth, overseeing the development of an AI-powered platform that monitors the performance of solar and wind energy assets in real time, detects underperformance and faults, and provides asset owners with prioritised maintenance recommendations. The platform serves renewable energy operators across the UK, Turkey, and Europe.
Under his leadership, Kavaken secured £1.1 million in seed funding from investors including Rockstart, Bogazici Ventures, and Vestel Ventures, and has been accepted onto leading cleantech accelerator programmes including Rockstart Energy and ORE Catapult's Launch Academy. Bora is a regular speaker at renewable energy industry events including WindEurope and the Turkish Wind Energy Conference.
