Dan Vahdat

Dan Vahdat is an Iranian-born entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Huma, a London-based global healthcare AI company on a mission to help people live longer, fuller lives. He grew up in a family of doctors, which gave him an early appreciation of both the power and the limitations of clinical care — particularly the sharp drop in visibility that healthcare teams experience the moment a patient leaves the hospital. This insight drove him to pursue bioengineering research at Johns Hopkins University, where he began laying the foundations for what would become Huma.

Vahdat founded the company in 2011, initially under the name Medopad, with a focus on remote monitoring for patients with rare and chronic diseases. The platform evolved significantly over the following decade, rebranding as Huma in 2020 and pivoting towards a broader disease-agnostic model underpinned by AI, digital biomarkers, and wearable data. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Huma's technology was deployed across the NHS, Germany, and the UAE to remotely monitor patients and support decentralised clinical trials, earning the company recognition as Europe's fastest-growing healthcare company by the Financial Times.

Huma has raised over $360 million to date from a world-class syndicate including Leaps by Bayer, Hitachi Ventures, AstraZeneca, Samsung Next, and Sony Innovation Fund. Today the platform powers digital hospital-at-home programmes across more than 3,000 hospitals and has directly benefited more than 27 million people worldwide. Vahdat is a World Economic Forum Global Innovator and Technology Pioneer, and a two-time winner of the Prix Galien.
