Dr Deepak Aulak

Dr Deepak Aulak is a British-Indian dentist, entrepreneur, and digital health innovator based in London. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at King’s College London between 2011 and 2016, also studying Biochemistry there, before building a career treating patients in some of London’s most prestigious private dental settings. His clinical experience gave him direct insight into the systemic barriers preventing millions of people from accessing routine dental care.
Motivated by what he witnessed firsthand — patients delaying treatment, struggling to find NHS dentists, and facing spiralling costs — Aulak co-founded Toothfairy in 2018 alongside Dr Kian Dhinsa. The two dentists deliberately stepped away from high-end private practice to build technology that could serve the many rather than the few. Toothfairy became the UK's first dental app to receive formal health regulatory approval from the Care Quality Commission, a milestone that validated the clinical seriousness of their digital-first approach.
As CEO of Toothfairy, Aulak has led the platform’s expansion from a consumer-facing app to a healthcare-as-a-service business serving employers and insurers at scale. Under his leadership the company partnered with Canada Life to bring digital dental access to 2.8 million workers across the UK workforce, developed proprietary AI and image recognition tools for clinical assessment, and built a clear aligner orthodontics product using 3D scanning and remote clinical supervision at a fraction of conventional clinic prices.
Toothfairy raised £7.3 million in an oversubscribed round led by LBO France in August 2025. Aulak has been recognised with the App of the Year award at the Dental Industry Awards and has spoken widely about the role of AI and technology in modernising dental public health. His ambition is for digital dentistry to become a standard component of preventive healthcare in the UK rather than a niche alternative.
