Toothfairy is a London-based digital dentistry platform founded in 2018 by Dr Deepak Aulak and Dr Kian Dhinsa, both King's College London graduates who left private dental practices to address the widening gap in NHS dental access. The platform is the UK's first CQC-regulated dental app and connects patients with licensed dentists for on-demand consultations, AI-assisted diagnostics, prescription management, and clear aligner orthodontics.
The UK dental access crisis has worsened significantly in recent years, with millions of patients unable to access timely NHS care. Toothfairy was built to bridge this gap, offering patients a digital pathway to clinical oversight without the friction of finding an available NHS dentist or navigating expensive private fees. Its app uses proprietary AI and image recognition technology to support clinical assessments and treatment planning at scale.
The company's model has evolved from direct-to-consumer to a B2B2C approach, serving employers and insurers. A partnership with Canada Life brought the platform to 2.8 million workers, and it holds CQC and GPhC regulatory approvals alongside NHS integration. Toothfairy's orthodontics offering uses 3D scanning and remote monitoring to deliver clear aligner therapy at significantly lower cost than clinic-based alternatives.
Toothfairy raised £7.3 million in an oversubscribed round led by LBO France in August 2025, with participation from CRB Health and Portfolio Ventures. The funding supports expansion into new treatment verticals and deepening of employer and insurer partnerships as the company scales its healthcare-as-a-service model across the UK workforce.
