Haris Shuaib

Haris Shuaib is a British Pakistani clinical scientist, NHS leader, and entrepreneur who has spent over a decade at the forefront of medical AI in the UK. As a Consultant Clinical Scientist and Head of Clinical Scientific Computing at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, he built and led the first dedicated medical AI team in the NHS, overseeing more than 50 AI projects across the entire AI lifecycle — from algorithm development through to clinical deployment. He is also Director of the national Fellowships in Clinical AI, the world's first clinical training programme equipping healthcare professionals with practical AI skills.
Haris is Founder and CEO of Newton's Tree, a London-based health technology company that he founded in 2023. Newton's Tree provides an enterprise AI platform that enables NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers to evaluate, procure, integrate, and monitor third-party AI applications as part of routine clinical care. The platform operates as a vendor-neutral marketplace, connecting hospitals with AI developers and reducing what can be a months-long integration process to a matter of days. Newton's Tree has already deployed its platform in multiple NHS hospitals and was named an NHS Innovation Accelerator fellow.
Newton's Tree raised £3.3 million from investors including Octopus Ventures and Calm/Storm Ventures, and has formed a strategic partnership with DNV Ventures. The company is working with NHS England to help define national standards for AI monitoring and is expanding internationally, with the ambition of making safe, accountable AI adoption the new standard for healthcare systems worldwide.
