Jiameng Gao

Jiameng Gao is a Chinese-born technologist and entrepreneur based in London, with deep expertise in machine learning and voice AI. She studied Machine Learning at the University of Cambridge, where she met her Neuphonic co-founder, and previously co-founded Papercup, a leading AI dubbing company, before going on to build Neuphonic. As a multilingual first-generation immigrant, she brings personal insight into the language barriers and cultural nuances that inspired the company's mission.
Jiameng co-founded Neuphonic alongside Sohaib Ahmad, serving as Co-Founder and CTO. At Neuphonic she leads the development of the company's core text-to-speech technology — a patent-pending algorithm that generates speech word-by-word as text arrives, achieving ultra-low latency of just 25 milliseconds. This incremental approach makes the technology uniquely compatible with any large language model and enables conversational AI interactions that feel as natural as human speech.
Neuphonic raised £3 million in pre-seed funding led by Moonfire VC, with participation from Tiny VC, Salica Oryx Fund, and Cur8 Capital. The company is headquartered in King's Cross, London, and is targeting high-growth applications in customer service, digital avatars, humanoid robotics, ed-tech, and real-time translation — sectors where eliminating voice AI latency unlocks entirely new user experiences.
