Neuphonic

Neuphonic is a London-based voice AI company on a mission to make human-AI communication feel natural, effortless, and instantaneous. Founded by Cambridge Machine Learning graduates Jiameng Gao and Sohaib Ahmad, the company was built around a shared conviction that high latency is the core bottleneck preventing conversational AI from reaching its potential across industries. Existing text-to-speech models are too large, slow, and expensive — and Neuphonic set out to fix that from first principles.
The company's patent-pending technology generates speech word-by-word as text arrives, rather than waiting for a complete sentence before synthesising audio. This incremental approach achieves ultra-low latency of just 25 milliseconds — making it the world's fastest text-to-speech solution — and works seamlessly with any large language model, regardless of the language being spoken. The result is AI voice interactions that mirror the responsiveness and naturalness of human conversation, unlocking use cases that were previously impossible with conventional TTS systems.
Neuphonic raised £3 million in pre-seed funding led by Moonfire VC, with participation from Tiny VC, Salica Oryx Fund, and Cur8 Capital. The company is headquartered in King's Cross, London, and is working with businesses in customer service, digital reception, humanoid robotics, ed-tech, storytelling, and content creation. Its API is available through a beta programme for developers building voice-driven applications, with on-device deployment capabilities in development.
