Sohaib Ahmad

Sohaib Ahmad is a British Pakistani entrepreneur and researcher based in London. He studied Machine Learning at the University of Cambridge, where he met his Neuphonic co-founder Jiameng Gao, and previously worked as a hedge fund quantitative trader before turning his focus to voice AI. As a multilingual first-generation immigrant with roots in Pakistan, he experienced first-hand the friction that high-latency AI creates for non-native speakers, which became the founding insight behind Neuphonic.
Sohaib is Co-Founder and CEO of Neuphonic, where he leads the company's strategy, go-to-market, and commercial partnerships. Under his leadership, Neuphonic developed a patent-pending incremental text-to-speech algorithm that generates speech with just 25 milliseconds of latency — a significant improvement over the multi-second delays that have historically limited conversational AI deployments in real-world applications.
Neuphonic raised £3 million in pre-seed funding led by Moonfire VC, with additional backing from Tiny VC, Salica Oryx Fund, and Cur8 Capital. The company is building toward a future where voice AI feels indistinguishable from human conversation, with applications spanning customer service, gaming, digital avatars, ed-tech, and real-time translation across multiple languages.
