Dr Jing Ouyang is Chief Growth Officer and co-founder of Patchwork Health, the UK healthcare workforce platform he launched in 2016 with fellow Imperial College medic Dr Anas Nader. The company was born out of the founders' frustration with rigid NHS rotas, expensive locum agencies and disconnected staff-bank software — problems they had encountered as junior doctors and were convinced could be solved with better technology and a clinician-first design. Jing initially served as the company's COO and has more recently moved into the Chief Growth Officer seat as Patchwork has scaled.
Jing trained in medicine at Imperial College London, qualifying in 2015, and has continued to work as an NHS doctor alongside scaling Patchwork. Before founding the company he held roles including Clinical Lead for Digital Health at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Chief Medical Officer at Aergo, and is a Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow at NHS England. The Patchwork concept emerged from a conference Jing organised in London, where a conversation with Anas about temporary staffing turned into a software project, and then into the company.
Patchwork now partners with more than 100 NHS sites, supports tens of thousands of clinicians, and has saved partner organisations over £120 million in agency costs. The company raised a £20 million Series B in 2022 led by Perwyn, with backing from Praetura Ventures, KHP Ventures and angels including Monzo founder Tom Blomfield. In late 2024 Patchwork acquired L2P, the UK's leading medical appraisal and job-planning software, extending its workforce platform deeper into the secondary-care setting.
