Saaras Mehan

Saaras Mehan is a British-Indian technologist, entrepreneur, and former member of the England Chess Team, best known today as the Co-Founder and CTO of Jack & Jill, the AI recruitment company he launched in 2025. His background combines elite technical training with hard-won product experience building and scaling software startups from scratch.
Mehan studied at the University of Cambridge before completing Y Combinator, the world's most competitive startup accelerator programme, as a founder of Kular.ai, an AI company he built and scaled to significant revenue. That YC stint gave him both the product discipline and the network to move fast at Jack & Jill, where he has been the primary architect of the platform's AI infrastructure. His former England Chess Team membership is more than a biographical footnote — it reflects a pattern of deep strategic thinking and competitive drive that characterises his approach to building technology.
At Jack & Jill, Mehan co-founded the company alongside Matthew Wilson to address the frustration both had experienced with the inefficiency and bias of traditional recruitment while building their previous companies. His thesis is that genuinely transforming recruitment requires reimagining it from first principles, not automating its existing broken processes. The result is Jack — an autonomous conversational AI agent he led the development of — which holds substantive voice conversations with candidates to understand their skills, goals, and motivations at a depth that no CV or job board can capture. Within six months of launch, Jack had spoken with 49,000 candidates across London's tech ecosystem.
Jack & Jill raised a $20 million seed round led by Creandum in October 2025, just six months after the company's founding — a pace of commercial validation that reflects Mehan's ability to build and ship product at exceptional speed. He is based in London and is actively leading the company's expansion into the US market.
