Sandrine Zhang Ferron is the founder and CEO of Vinterior, the London-based online marketplace for vintage and pre-owned furniture. Under her leadership the platform has grown from a small London-only operation into Europe's largest premium pre-loved furniture marketplace, working with more than 2,000 independent dealers across over 30 countries and offering customers an alternative to mass-produced flat-pack furniture and long-lead-time design retailers.
The idea came directly from her own frustration. After moving house, she spent weekends trawling vintage shops and second-hand dealerships looking for a yellow armchair to match her cat's eyes. What started as fun became tedious, and Zhang Ferron concluded that there had to be a better way to bring fragmented vintage inventory online and into one searchable place. She left her previous job and co-founded Vinterior in 2015 alongside Leslie Fournier.
Vinterior has raised a total of around £15 million across multiple rounds, including a 2021 Series A led by Active Partners and a 2024 £3 million media-for-equity deal with Channel 4 Ventures designed to take the brand onto television and broaden its appeal beyond London. Zhang Ferron speaks frequently on the circular economy in furniture and on the broader case for replacing fast-furniture consumption with reuse.
