Zhenwen Dai is co-founder and CTO of Trent AI, a London-based agentic security company that emerged from stealth in April 2026 with a £10M seed round. A machine learning researcher of Chinese heritage, he completed his PhD at Goethe University Frankfurt before moving into industry roles spanning research and applied ML.

Before Trent AI, Dai led a research lab at Spotify as Senior Research Manager, working on reinforcement learning for personalised listening. Earlier in his career he was a Machine Learning Scientist at Amazon Web Services, where he focused on probabilistic modelling and large-scale ML systems. He has published widely in the academic community on Bayesian methods, Gaussian processes and deep generative models.

At Trent AI, Dai oversees engineering and the technical direction of the company's multi-agent security platform, which uses specialised AI agents to scan code, infrastructure and runtime behaviour for vulnerabilities in autonomous systems. He co-founded the company in 2025 with Eno Thereska and Neil Lawrence.
