Surfboard

Surfboard is a cloud-native workforce management platform for customer support teams, founded in London in 2020. It replaces the spreadsheets, ticketing-system exports and ad-hoc tools that contact-centre managers traditionally used to forecast demand and schedule staff, with a single product that combines forecasting, scheduling and intraday adjustments.
The company was built around the observation that legacy WFM software was designed for managers rather than agents, leaving frontline teams with little say in how their shifts were structured. Surfboard's product gave teams visibility into upcoming workload, fairer rotation logic and the ability to flag preferences, while giving managers the forecasting tools needed to hit service-level targets without overstaffing.
Surfboard raised roughly $5 million across two rounds from investors including Speedinvest, Seedcamp, Fly Ventures and Foreword Ventures. Customers spanned consumer fintech, e-commerce and subscription brands including Cleo, Beauty Pie, Bilt Rewards and Hometree. Dialpad acquired the company in October 2024, integrating its product into the Dialpad AI Contact Center platform.
