Flash Pack Secures £5M Funding to Accelerate Growth and Expand in the U.S.

October 23, 2023

Flash Pack, a trailblazer in boutique adventures tailored for solo traveler's in their 30s and 40s, has just secured an impressive £5 million in funding. This landmark investment, led by JamJar Investments, co-founded by the visionaries behind Innocent drinks, and complemented by contributions from existing investors, brings Flash Pack's total raised capital to a remarkable £7.8 million.

The latest funding comes precisely three years after the company faced adversity, filing for bankruptcy amidst the pandemic's travel restrictions. A testament to resilience and innovation, Flash Pack relaunched in 2021 with backing from PPF, determined to foster connections and redefine group travel dynamics.

Under the leadership of founders Radha Vyas and Lee Thompson, Flash Pack has experienced exceptional growth over the past two years. The company, with a team spanning 11 countries and 65 employees, has become a global force, hosting solo adventurers from every continent. This surge in popularity can be attributed to the brand's mission to create one million friendships by curating meaningful connections.

The infusion of £5 million will fuel Flash Pack's ongoing technological advancements and support the expansion of its footprint in the United States. In the last two years, the U.S. has become Flash Pack's fastest-growing market, constituting 60% of total trip sales. Radha Vyas and Lee Thompson are set to establish the business in North America at the beginning of 2024, with plans to triple their U.S.-based team in the next six months.

Radha Vyas, CEO and co-founder of Flash Pack, recognises the growing trend of solo travel and the increased desire for meaningful connections: "We're proud to be doing our part in helping to make cities like London less isolated, with 80% Flashpackers staying in touch after their trip. The recent investment indicates the value in this growing trend, and we're incredibly excited to continue this success worldwide."

Notably, Flash Pack's achievements defy industry statistics, with Radha Vyas being one of the few South Asian female founders securing investment at this stage. Richard Reed, co-founder of JamJar Investments, acknowledges the significance of Flash Pack's impact on both travel and interpersonal connections, emphasizing the need for more investor support for ventures led by women, particularly those of color.

"At JamJar, we're on a mission to invest in and help grow early-stage consumer businesses using tech to disrupt their categories and have a positive impact on the world," notes Reed. "Flash Pack is not just revolutionising the way people travel but how we interact with one another."

In addition to technological enhancements, the funds will facilitate Flash Pack's mission to create one million meaningful friendships through travel. As the company cements its presence in North America, it stands as a beacon of success, having navigated challenges and emerged stronger, poised for further transformative growth. Flash Pack's journey exemplifies the resilience and adaptability crucial for success in the dynamic landscape of adventure travel.
