Sach Kukadia

Sach Kukadia is the Co-Founder and CEO of 7879, the UK fine jewellery brand that prices gold and platinum pieces in real time against the international bullion market. Of South Indian heritage — a culture in which storing wealth in the form of gold and platinum jewellery is a longstanding practice — Kukadia has brought a distinctive perspective to a jewellery industry still dominated by opaque pricing and high retail markups. His previous venture, Secret Sales, was the UK's first flash sales website, which he co-founded with his brother in 2007, scaled to 110 staff and partnerships with over 1,600 brands, and sold in 2019.
The idea for 7879 emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Kukadia observed that while consumers were increasingly interested in gold as an asset — given its historic role as a store of value during economic uncertainty — there was no digital-first brand offering genuine gold and platinum jewellery at prices that honestly reflected the underlying metal cost. Most jewellers sell 14 or 18 karat gold with significant retail markups applied on top; 7879 sells 24 karat gold and pure platinum, priced transparently by weight at the prevailing bullion market price, with a 30% craftsmanship fee. Customers can track the real-time value of their pieces through a personalised portfolio and sell them back to 7879 at the current market rate.
The brand launched in November 2021, was listed in Selfridges and Harrods, and secured a £5.5 million seed round led by Anglo American in 2022. Revenues jumped 977% in the first year of trading. 7879 has continued to grow, reaching a £6 million annual run rate in its second year, with strong sales of platinum outpacing gold — a direct consequence of the brand's transparent pricing model, which makes platinum's lower spot price relative to gold visible to consumers for the first time.
